Dinner last night: Bison burgers, grilled corn on the cob, steamed broccolini, and our typical green salad with tomatoes, avocado, and mustard vinaigrette. I learned from Marcella Hazan’s Italian cookbooks that in food preparation, like so many things in life, simple is better. So the bison burgers are just ground bison and salt and pepper; the broccolini is drizzled with a little EVO, and salt and pepper; the sweet corn is grilled in the husks and eaten naked (the corn, not us), no butter, no seasoning. The salad this time has some Persian cukes and a little cauliflower added.
Our vegetables are all from the Laguna Beach Farmers Market, held every Saturday morning. There are also very nice farmers markets in Laguna Hills (Friday mid day) and right here in Laguna Niguel (Sunday Morning).
