In the category of “Why didn’t I think of this?”: including Google Nest devices in an Apple HomeKit setup has been made easier by the bright folks at Starling. The product is the Starling Home Hub, which is a compact device running the Homebridge application wrapped in a user-friendly management interface. This product makes my two previous posts on the subject completely obsolete (here and here). If you have both Nest and Homekit-compatible devices on your home network, this looks like a very viable solution for you. I no longer have a Nest thermostat, so I haven’t tested the Starling Home Hub, but 9to5 Mac has a review.
